Past Recital 22 march 2011

Invited by Christophe Picot, professor in Le Mans and La Flèche conservatory, I had the great pleasure to teach to very nice students from all over the Sarthe region (west middle France). Teachers and students came also from La Rochelle, Nantes.

The recital and master class where in a wonderful historic « italian style » little theatre,  » La Halle au Blé » ( 1839).

Thierry Barbé a interprété Premiers mouvements – La Flèche

Le contrebassiste de renom a joué devant près de 70 personnes samedi soir.Invité par l’école de musique municipale, le contrebassiste Thierry Barbé est intervenu en master-classes samedi après-midi, auprès d’élèves de toute la région (lire Ouest-France du 18 mars). Puis, en soirée, l’artiste est remonté sur scène pour un concert intitulé Premiers mouvements.

En solo ou accompagné par Noriko Lepage au piano et Christophe Picot à la contrebasse, Thierry Barbé a interprété des oeuvres d’une dizaine de compositeurs tels que Mozart, Bach ou Schubert, mais aussi Dominique Preschez qui était récemment en résidence à La Flèche.

How much existing Octobasses in the world?

Catalin Rotaru and Thierry Barbé, Feb 2011 MIM, Phoenix

Dear friends, I  had the pleasure to be in february 2011 in Tempe ( AZ), invited by professor Catalin Rotaru in ASU for a master class and recital. I discovered with him the MIM, north Phoenix, a hudge museum about all musics in the world, classified by countries, with many beautiful instruments, each presenting automaticaly audio files in the headset during the visit.

We all know the Vuillaume Octobasse ( 1851)  in The Paris Musée de la Musique, and ist copy from the luthier Pierre Bohr ( Milano) played by Nicola Moneta with many orchestras in Europe. A second copy from Antonio Dattis ( Tarenta) is here in Phoenix.

Thierry Barbé is principal double bass in the « National Opera de Paris Orchestra » and professor in the National Superior Conservatoire (CNSMDP, levels Bachelor, Master, Doctorate). He teaches also in the St-Maur Regional Conservatory, east suburb of Paris.

He gave and gives Master Classes and recitals in many Universities in the world.

He is actually involved in the I.S.B. board, and try to stimulate  double bass  in France those past years with A.B.C.D.F.
